Matt Pope, Senior Vice President – Legends Global Partnerships, joined the company in 2015 and is responsible for developing corporate partnership platforms and creating new business opportunities for major sports and entertainment properties. Matt is focused on partnership consulting services, including naming rights and various entitlement positions, jersey sponsorships, premier events, sponsorships for properties and rights holders, and commercializing stadia projects.
With an extensive background in corporate partnerships, community relations and special events at the National Basketball Association, Major League Baseball, Los Angeles Lakers and Premier Partnerships, Matt brings a broad range of expertise to Legends at the professional sports league, team and agency level.
Prior to Legends, Matt spent four years at Premier Partnerships as Director of Corporate Partnerships, generating over $26M in naming rights and sponsorship COI. Highlighted by the naming rights to the TCL Chinese Theatre, he also established long-term partnerships for an array of sports, entertainment and municipal venues such as Grand Central Terminal, Hollywood & Highland Center, Los Angeles Zoo, Portland Trail Blazers and Detroit Pistons.
Before Premier, Matt served as the Manager of Corporate Partnerships for the Los Angeles Lakers from 2007 to 2011 where he was instrumental in building renewal proposals and securing multi-year extensions with existing Lakers Partners such as American Express, Anheuser-Busch, Gatorade and Toyota. In four years, Matt led a 22% growth in sponsorship sales and managed accounts that represented nearly two-thirds of the total department revenue.
